Meditative Movement for Life
As I continue my journey down the path of health and well-being, I enjoy exploring new forms of physical movement. I've always ascertained that the secret to life is movement and eating primarily a living foods diet consisting mainly of fresh, whole, unrefined, living, plant-based foods including fruits, vegetables, leafy greens, nuts and seeds, all consumed without cooking or steaming. So simple yet profound in the results.
My 15 years of yoga practice was put on pause when I discovered qigong. Qigong is an ancient Chinese health care system integrating movement, posture, breathing, and awareness in what is considered a new category of exercise called "meditative movement." Wow, what a difference qigong has made in my life. The simple movements have impacted my yoga practice with added flexibility and deeper respiration.
Integrative Medicine, a blending of Eastern and Western therapies, has resulted in a paradigm shift in the conventional medical model of healing. Finally, after years of extensive research, the Western medical community is embracing therapies that emphasize balancing body, mind and spirit as the basis of true healing. Finally.
I've included the Amazon link for Women's Qigong for Health & Longevity by Deborah Davis, LAc, MAOM. A great practical guide for women forty and older. She includes a brief introduction to Chinese Medicine and Medical Qigong, as well as breathing techniques, meditations and movement.
There are numerous books and DVDs on Qigong. It's never too late to start the journey towards health and longevity.
